“Where is human nature so weak as in the bookstore?” — Henry Ward Beecher
If that isn’t true I don’t know what is! Every time I visit a bookstore I promise myself I will not buy anymore books until I finish reading the old ones. But in reality I cannot leave a bookstore empty-handed!
So far this year I’ve been quite good actually. I’ve bought fewer books than last year. But the year is young still. Let’s see how long I can keep this up.
Here are the books I bought in the month of January.
Jan 6, 2011.
The Diary of a Nobody. George Grossmith.
The Woodlanders. Thomas Hardy.
I’ve wanted to read The Diary of a Nobody for a long time. I’ll finally get to do so soon (Unless other books get in my way!). I love my Penguin Essential edition but the cover is absolutely hideous! I hate looking at it!
I have no idea what The Woodlanders is all about. I wonder what it will be like.

The Penguin Complete Father Brown. G.K. Chesterton.
I love reading detective stories! Enjoyed reading The Innocence of Father Brown last year. So when I saw this at a book store I knew I had to have it. It was kind of expensive but totally worth it! Right now I’m slowly making my way through it. I’m enjoying it so far but I have to take breaks for other books in between otherwise it gets to be a bit monotonous.
So these were books that came home in January. Hope to review them soon.
