30 Day Book Challenge

Day 8: Most Emotionally Draining Book –

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey.

The most emotionally overwhelming book I’ve ever read has got to be One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. I felt suffocated while reading it. It’s a deeply troubling book. I don’t think I’d ever be able to re-read it.

    1. I often have a problem with getting too involved with the book I’m reading. That’s why a book like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is so difficult for me. It felt as though it was all really happening to McMurphy and I felt so uncomfortable and powerless by his predicaments. It is a good book (that’s why I finished it) but for me reading it was very difficult.

    1. Thanks for liking my post! I had read One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest when I was in high school. It was like the book took me into a dark, unhealthy place. I appreciated the story and my reading experience but I wouldn’t want to repeat it. Perhaps I was too young to read such a book.

I haven’t read The God Of Small Things as it’s not really my kind of book but I have heard good things about it. Maybe someday I will get to it.
