My Teaser:
“‘Whips!’ cried Veruca Salt. ‘What on earth do you use whips for?’
‘For whipping cream, of course,’ said Mr Wonka. ‘How can you whip cream without whips? Whipped cream isn’t whipped cream at all unless it’s been whipped with whips. Just as a poached egg isn’t a poached egg unless it’s been stolen from the woods in the dead of night!”
p. 112, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.

Awesome teaser! I adore Roald Dahl’s books.

I like Dahl’s writing too but find some of his writing to be a bit disturbing. I think that is because I read his juvenile fiction after reading his adult fiction. One can’t help seeing sinister undertones even in his books meant for children, especially after reading stuff like his The Way Up to Heaven.
Love Roald Dahl – Matilda is my favourite.

This is the first Roald Dahl ‘juvenile fiction’ I’m reading. I have read his short story collections before. But no matter what genre or what age group he was writing for, Dahl’s writing always had a sort of a macabre undertone to it.
hilarious! lol love that book
