Day 26: Last Translated Book I Read
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami.
Sprawling, odd, complicated, scary, these are the words that come to my mind when I think of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. I tried to keep an open mind and take it all in. But still at times I had to stop and think,
‘What on earth is this?’
Haruki Murakami is a brilliant writer. Even though I had a tough time with the book’s length and complexity, I felt the undeniable power of his prose. I think Jay Rubin did a very good job of translating such a complex book.
I have also read just one book by Murakami book so far too. I don’t know when I will have enough energy to pick up another one because Murakami’s complexity exhausts me.
Agreed power of his prose is mesmerising … I have just read one book by Murakami..But i look forward to reading his work a bit more often
