Today’s sentence comes from The Thirty-Nine Steps by John Buchan.
“I lay and tortured myself – for the ginger biscuits merely emphasized the aching void – with the memory of all the good food I had thought so little of in London.”
Very alluring….
Thanks!
Hmmm. Got ginger biscuits, but no good food? Now I’m curious.

Poor fellow is on the run from just about everyone. No food, no shelter and with the nets closing in, he’s in major trouble. Pretty exciting stuff!
ginger biscuits? never had those. London, been there!

I have never had them either. I am not a fan of ginger in general. I’d probably hate ginger biscuits!
Hi!
That sentence sounds so thoughtful and makes me hungry. Have a great day!

Ah this entire part makes me hungry and cold! But what follows this is even scarier.
Ah, that feels so poignant with the loss of things the character is missing….food being just one of those things. Thanks for sharing.

You’re welcome! Hunger is just one of the perils the protagonist is facing in this story. Bad for the hero but very exciting for the reader (a.k.a me!). 😉
