This week’s Booking Through Thursday asks:
“Of the books you own, what’s the biggest category/genre?
Is this also the category that you actually read the most?”
That’s easy! It’s definitely mystery. I own every Miss Marple book, most of the Hercule Poirot books and many of the non-series mysteries by Agatha Christie, the entire Sherlock Holmes collection by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the entire Father Brown collection by G.K. Chesterton and many more by authors like John Dickson Carr, Ngaio Marsh; etc.
Yes, this is the category That I actually read the most. I am always on the lookout for more mystery treats for me to sink my teeth into!
I have Sherlock Holmes on my reading list next year.
I so hope you like the Sherlock Holmes mysteries! They have a special place in my heart. I read them as an adolescent and they captured my imagination like nothing else.
I know you have, but you should read Dorothy Sayer if you like Agatha. Check out the winners of the Agatha awards too. 🙂
Check out the winners of the Agatha awards too.
That’s a good idea. Thanks! 🙂
I have crime fiction everywhere!!
Here is my BTT: category post!
Yay for mysteries and crime fictions! 😉
I think I’m fairly evenly distributed among most genres so it would be hard to say what I have the most of. My collection probably leans most heavily towards non-fiction and reference books with emphasis on books about religion, history, writing, and self-help. As far as fiction it’s heavy on literary fiction and classics although I do have quite a few science fiction and mystery/suspense books. I’ve got a lot of books.

Tossing It Out
My collection contains very few non-fictions. I do intend to read more of them but other books keep getting in the way. Hopefully I would be reading more non-fiction in the future.
I love mysteries, too, but they’re not the most popular of my categories. You’ll find my breakdown here at MY THURSDAY MEMES POST and
MY WEBSITE
Glad to find another mystery reader! The more the merrier! 🙂
Oh, I love Agatha Christie, even thought I’m not too into mysteries.
Here’s my BTT: http://palmtreesbarefeet.wordpress.com/2011/11/17/booking-through-thursday-category/
🙂
I love Agatha Christie too although Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is the one who really got me into reading mysteries in the first place.
I love cozy mysteries too. I’m gradually collecting all of Agatha Christie’s books, although I’m not sure yet if I prefer Poirot or Marple.
My BTT post is here if you’d like a look 🙂
Glad to find another cosy mystery reader! I, undoubtedly, prefer Miss Marple. Poirot is also very good but I love the quite intimacy of the Marple mysteries.
I think I have most of the Lord Peter Whimsey books. Have you read those?
I have read only one Lord Peter Whimsey book, Clouds of Witness. I do intend to read more even though I found Lord Peter to be a tad irritating.
I’ve never really read much in the way of “cosy mysteries” but I’m finding them more and more attractive lately. Mine are fairly evenly spread over several categories…
Here’s my Booking Through Thursday post. 🙂
I love the cosies! They make my world go round. 🙂
