Today’s sentence comes from The Queen of Hearts by Wilkie Collins, one of my favourite reads from last year.
“I could not imagine that the loud sobbing and moaning came from her, and I ran down terrified into the kitchen to ask the servants who was crying so violently in my aunt’s room.”
oh my. and WHY is she crying so violently?
Because something terrible has happened. Not just death but a great scandal!
I like this excerpt. It shows us a range of emotions, which I always love.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Wilkie Collins was very good at portraying human emotions. That’s what I like about his works.
Definitely leaves a person curious for more.
Thanks! 🙂

It is a sad story but heart warming nonetheless.
Thanks! I was surprised that this blog name wasn’t taken yet. I was so happy to get my first choice as blog name!
Hope you are having a great weekend too!
It sounds like something is very wrong. I have read some Wilkie Collins but not this one. You have intrigued me, I’ll add it to my wishlist.
The Queen of Hearts is a good read. It is a collection of ten short stories set within a connecting narrative. The stories are a mixture of adventure, romance, suspense, mystery, etc, etc. I wasn’t disappointed by it.
