Booking Through Thursday: Found Books

This week’s Booking Through Thursday asks:

“Have you ever read a random book left in a waiting room or on a park bench, etc., and did you like it?

Being a bit of a ‘germaphobe’, I don’t think it is likely that I would pick up a book from a waiting room or a park bench. Who knows where it has been? But I did read a copy of Eragon by Christopher Paolini, left behind by someone at my grandma’s house. It wasn’t hers but since it was found in her house it didn’t feel all unclean to me.

Did I like it? Well, I didn’t hate it. It felt a bit underdone and heavily influenced by popular books and movies but overall it was quite good. I was surprised to find myself getting pretty engrossed by it.

  1. Good answer. I’m sort of a “germaphobe” too, when it comes to picking up strange books (or anything else) — you never know who’s handled it. Of course, I guess the same thing could be said of library books, and I don’t mind picking them up. Which is sort of strange, now that I think about it.
