This week’s Musing Mondays from Should Be Reading asks…
“This week’s musing asks…
What is your favorite romantic book –or book that includes a love story? (an adult romance, young adult, kids’ story, anything)”
I am not much into romance. I rarely read an out and out love story. I even dislike it when romance invades my reads from other genres. Even if I have read some books that contain a romantic plot, it has always been a classic, nothing modern.
If I have to pick my favorite romantic book, I’d choose Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. It is the ultimate romantic story in my opinion. But I love it not only for the romance but because of its heroine, Elizabeth Bennet. I have rarely come across such a strong and assertive heroine in a romantic story. I loved how she often flouts the convention of her restrictive society (like when she makes a three mile long journey by foot to see her sister), the way she doesn’t pine for her love and handles herself maturely in every situation. Of course, she does have her flaws but they make her even more human. With her flaws and her strengths, she is unmatched.
Great choice! As a huge fan of all things romance, I am so checking out this one – thank you for sharing! 🙂

Thanks! I do think that one can never go wrong with Jane Austen. 🙂
Ahhh The classics are the best romantics. Pride and Prejudice is definitely my favorite 🙂
Yes the Classics do have the best of Romance. 🙂
You can’t go wrong with a choice like that. I love that story too.
Thanks!
Good choice – gotta love the Darcys. 🙂

Pride and Prejudice is a great book, imo. Hope you get to read it someday (and enjoy it). 🙂
