This song is definitely from my era and was kinda our tune, as it was released in 1975 and we met not long afterwards and were married in 1979.
It is funny how much your tastes change though, as one of the guys put this on at work the other day and I just thought ‘OMG how cheesy’, although when I mentioned this to hubbie, he confesses to still listening to and enjoying this track.
Either way, it is definitely a classic!
Hmmm…a ‘not in love’ song for a happy couple? A wee bit strange, no? 😉
As for ‘cheesy’, I just don’t get why this song is constantly classified as being one. For me, cheesy is Kung-fu Fighting or Macarena. To each his/her own, I guess.

Welcome! I love this song because the lyrics mean something to me and the tune is so haunting!
When listening to a song I usually look for a quality tune and above all meaningful lyrics. Cheesy or not it, ‘I’m Not in Love’ is way better than stuff like ‘…bluffin’ with my muffin’ or ‘Boys tryna touch my junk, Gonna smack him if he getting too drunk’, IMO. 🙂
The music video is cheesetastic – but the song is fantastic!
This was a performance for the German music show Der Musikladen. You should see some of the other performances from the same show. In Der Musikladen‘s defense, the 70’s and the 80’s were a different time and this was cool back then.
