This Tuesday’s Tune: “This Boy” by The Beatles
Ah The Beatles! Nothing in my world comes even close to them. I have almost their entire song collection and there are innumerable favourites. But I couldn’t have been happier when this popped up. This Boy just melts my heart! The intensity of John’s vocals, the pain, the frustration and the plea flowing through the lyrics, the lovely tune, it is all perfect.
Here are two videos for it. The first one is an appearance they made of The Ed Sullivan Show.
The second one is the 2009 digitally remastered version.
Great song. If I remember correctly it was used in the Beatles film A Hard Day’s Night in a bittersweet segment with Ringo.

Tossing It Out
Yup This Boy was used as Ringo’s theme in A Hard Day’s Night, which incidentally is one of my favourite movies.
This is one of my favorite Beatles songs. I have the Meet the Beatles album it was originally on..it was my parents and I nicked it when I moved out !
Mine too! There are so many Beatles song that I love that I’d be hard pressed to pick just one but This Boy comes pretty close.
Oh lucky you! The original Meet the Beatles album! All my parents have are stuff like Lobo, John Denver, The Carpenters, ABBA; etc. Basically standard 70’s albums.
Loooooooove! love love love! 🙂
My sentiments exactly! 🙂
I looooove the Beatles, so this hit the spot :]
Always lovely to see other people who love The Beatles! 🙂
The Beatles are classic. I didn’t know they remixed it.

Yes they digitally remastered the song in 2009 for a clearer sound. I must say it worked beautifully!
Really, can you ever go wrong with The Beatles? Answer: absolutely not. Heehee. Wonderful post! Thanks for sharing!
