Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Today’s teaser is way more than two lines long but that cannot be helped. When it comes to Dickens I refuse to abide by the rules!

‘Oh, dear me! O Lord! Stop a moment!’ says Mr. Smallweed. ‘He’s so very prompt! Are you sure you can do it carefully, my worthy man?’
Phil makes no reply, but seizing the chair and its load, sidles away, tightly hugged by the now speechless Mr. Smallweed, and bolts along the passage as if he had an acceptable commission to carry the old gentleman to the nearest volcano. His shorter trust, however, terminating at the cab, he deposits him there;… ”

Thanks! You’re right. Hard to go wrong with Dickens. 🙂
I have been meaning to read this one…and as for sharing “more,” sometimes it must be done! I showcase both Teaser Tuesdays and First Paragraph/Intro, which allows the long intro.
Thanks for sharing…and here’s MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
I love Charles Dickens and I really wanted to read Bleak House for a long time. But I kept putting it off because I was afraid of lugging around this mammoth of a book. Now that I am into it I think the trouble is worth it.
And thanks for supporting my sharing more than the required amount. Just glad I am not boring everyone.:-)
Excellent teaser! I really need to check this one out – thank you for sharing! 🙂

Hope you read it someday! 🙂
I like this teaser. I’ve read a few Charles Dickens books, but Bleak House isn’t one of them, unfortunately.
Take a look at my teaser.
Charles Dickens is one of my favourite authors. I started Bleak House after a lot of deliberation because this huge book is backbreaking to carry around even as a paperback! But it’s totally worth it. 🙂
Great teaser. Its rare to see one from the classics.
My Teaser
Thanks! Oh I am all about the classics! You will rarely find any books around here that is less than at least 30-40 years old. 🙂
Great teaser! My teaser comes from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
Thank you! Oh Sherlock Holmes! My first detective and the one who turned me into the mystery reader that I am today. Love him!
I’ve never read Bleak House! Better do that. Thanks for posting a teaser from it.
My Teaser is from Each Angel Burns.
Hope you read it soon! 🙂
