This week’s Musing Mondays from Should Be Reading asks…
“This week’s musing asks…
Do you have a reading goal for the year, such as __ books? Why or why not?“
I don’t really have a reading goal per se but I do try to read at least one book every week. This takes my total up to something like 50 or 52 books. I used to be able to read 70+ books every year as a student but ever since I have started working my reading pace has considerably slowed down. Before as soon as I got my hands on a new book, I would devour it. Nowadays I spend time grading papers while longingly looking at my current read lying near me!
I like keeping track of what I read but I don’t pressure myself to read a certain # of books. Plus, my teaching load has changed quite a bit in the past couple of years so that changes my reading time.
I too keep track of what I read. I try not to pressurize myself but more efficient readers make me pull up my socks quite often. 🙂
I like to set a goal, but am not too bothered if I don’t make it. I just readjust for the next year. Even if you are managing a book a week that’s still a lot of books in a year compared with some people. My MM post:

Thanks! I do read more than the average person but the super readers out there embarrass me with their annual tally of 200+ books. 😉
It’s hard when life gets in the way, believe me i know. Here’s my Musing
Yup life does have a way of getting in between you and the things you love.
I have no goals and really keep rather poor records of what I read. and this is years AFTER I started a blog. Imagine how bad I was before!
I do keep a record of what I have read and what I am going to read. I do have a tendency to make lists and take stock of stuff. I don’t just do this in reading. I do this in other areas of life as well. Otherwise I feel overwhelmed. 🙂
