This week’s Musing Mondays from Should Be Reading asks…
“This week’s musing asks…
What is the longest book you have ever read? How long did it take you to read it? “
The Lord of the Rings complete trilogy on paperback is technically the longest book I have ever read but that’s three books in one so it’s not applicable.
The longest single book I have ever read is either The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett or David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. I think it’s The Pillars of the Earth. This historical epic spanning more than fifty years and covering three generations was a true chunkster.
Amazingly I finished The Pillars of the Earth in just three days, not because I loved the book but because I had an important exam coming up and wanted to get the book out of the way.
Bleak House, one of my current reads, may turn out to be my longest book yet.
I’m starting Bleak House later this month. I hope we both like it!
I am loving Bleak House but then Charles Dickens is one of my favourite authors so no surprise there. I do hope you like it too. 🙂
Pillars of the Earth is a great read. I should read it again as there is so much I have forgotten about it. My MM:
Hope you get to re-read The Pillars of the Earth some day. 🙂
Oh, I looooved Pillars of the Earth, i couldn’t put it down 🙂
I didn’t love The Pillars of the Earth but I can see why some others may. 🙂
It’s hard to measure how long it takes, since most of us back in the day were juggling many activities. Here’s MY MUSING MONDAYS POST
Like I am these days! 😉
I completely forgot about Pillars being a long book, because I gobbled it up!
I didn’t like The Pillars of the Earth for various reasons but I’d admit that it is an engaging book.
Hey, I went with TLotR…three or one.
It took me quite a few months to finish the entire trilogy but I did love it!
Awesome books, I’ve been meaning to read The Lord of the Rings trilogy for a while now… I must get on to it!
Loved The Lord of the Rings! It took me a long time to finish but it was totally worth it.
