This Tuesday’s Tune: “No Surprises” by Radiohead
I have quite a few favourites by Radiohead. No Surprises is not my most favourite but the lyrics cut like a knife. ‘Cause they are so true. So very, very true.
“A heart that’s full up like a landfill
A job that slowly kills you
Bruises that won’t heal
You look so tired and unhappy…
I’ll take a quiet life
A handshake of carbon monoxide…
No alarms and no surprises (let me out of here)
No alarms and no surprises (let me out of here)
No alarms and no surprises please (let me out of here)”
Lyrics by Radiohead
Man, I haven’t listened to Radiohead in a long time. Thanks so much for taking me back a bit! 🙂
You’re welcome!
I haven’t listened to a lot of Radiohead but what I have listened to I love. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome! It’s the same with me. I haven’t listened to everything by them but I’ve liked whatever I have listened to.
This is the first time I’ve heard this song. I love it though. You’re right, it is devastating in a quiet way which almost makes it worse.
My Tune in Tuesday is here.
Glad to have brought this song to your attention! 🙂
This is definitely one of my favourite Radiohead songs, and easily some of my favourite Radiohead lyrics. Great choice!
My Tune in Tuesday
This is one of my favourites too, especially from their seminal 1997 album OK Computer! I was way too young when it originally came out but now as an adult I understand and appreciate it far better.
Always a classic choice!

Thanks! Great to see a Radiohead fan! 🙂
