This week’s Musing Mondays from Should Be Reading asks…
“This week’s musing – courtesy of http://www.kwizgiver.com – asks…
Is there a particular book that is your nemesis–the book you’re determined to one day finish?“
That would be The Woodlanders by Thomas Hardy. I have read the book on and off for almost two years now but couldn’t finish it. I’ve read Hardy’s works before. They don’t exactly fill me with joy for they are rather melancholy. But I don’t hate them either. I appreciate Hardy’s words and the quality of his work. I am determined to one day finish The Woodlanders. I just don’t know when that day will come.
I’ve not heard of it either but then I haven’t read any Hardy since highschool. My MM: http://daystarz.wordpress.com/2012/12/17/musing-mondays-2/
Hardy in high school. Not a good idea, IMO. Why do we have to read stuff like that in high school anyway?
I agree with you on the mood of Hardy. I have to be in a certain mood to read that kind of book,

Yes I can’t read Hardy’s works when I’m either too sad or too happy. It either makes me cry or dims my happiness.
Hardy. *runs and hides* I was made to read The Mayor of Casterbridge in 9th grade. As an adult, I should probably give him another try.
I sympathize. I really dislike how high school makes people read stuff way beyond their age. The Mayor of Casterbridge is not really suitable for teenagers.
I love Hardy, though I haven’t read that one yet.

Can’t say I love Hardy but I do like him.
Gosh, I never even heard of The Woodlanders..what does that say about how well read I am? 😉
Oh no it doesn’t say anything at all about you! The Woodlanders is not really one of Hardy’s well known works. 🙂
