In the 30 Day Book Challenge a new question about books is asked every day for thirty days. I saw other bloggers participating in this challenge and thought, “This looks like fun.” So, here I am starting right now. I have changed the questions a bit though.
Day 1: All-time Favourite Book –
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
Pride and Prejudice being my favourite book is really surprising since I normally don’t like romance. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I read this when I was 12 and unlike many other books this one hasn’t lost its lustre even one bit. I still feel the same way about the story, the language and the characters even after over half a dozen re-reads.
I love how strong the female characters are. How no one ‘pines away’ or anything. Elizabeth, even the oh-so-nice Jane, don’t fret and fuss over their respective loves. The girls maintain their dignity, even when faced against insurmountable odds. That’s what I love about this book.
Jane Austen! What can I say about her? Her clear language, sharp wit, wonderful characters, makes her one of my favourite author. One of those rare authors whose entire body of work I’ve read and enjoyed.
