This week’s Musing Mondays from Should Be Reading asks…
“This week’s musing asks…
What are you currently reading? Is it any good? Would you recommend it?”
I am currently reading the last book of my Vintage Mystery Challenge 2012, The Beckoning Lady by Margery Allingham. I am not really enjoying it so far. It feels heavy and kind of boring. Not good signs for a mystery. I will reserve my judgement until the end but I don’t think I’ll be recommending this book to anyone.
I would probably throw in the towel..remember, reading should be fun! Fun i tell ya, fun!
Oh yes reading should be fun but I am so eager to complete my reading challenges! Sigh!
Too bad it’s boring. You’re right, not good signs of a mystery novel.

It’s my first Margery Allingham mystery. I was hoping to like her writing so I am kind of disappointed.
I’ve just read a couple of great mystery/thrillers so I can relate to being disappointed when the book doesn’t capture you.
Thanks for visiting my blog! I’m having some net connectivity issues so can’t seem to visit your blog. Sorry!
I long to read a mystery that would make a lasting place in my heart like most of Agatha Christie’s books, The Innocence of Father Brown or the Sherlock Holmes mysteries did.
It is hard to keep reaidng when you get a book like that. Here is my post:
MM
Yes it is. I am struggling to get through this one.
Oh dear. A mystery should definitely not be boring. Well, no book should I suppose.
My MM.
Oh yes no book should be boring but especially a mystery. The pace of The Beckoning Lady is so lethargic! Even after nearly half of the book is over nothing much has happened.
